The difference

A bite table, not a solunar table

The moon keeps different hours in Ystad and in Kiruna, almost two hours apart. A printed table doesn't know that.

    The verdict

    One word for the day: slow, mixed, good or peak, and a sentence on why.

    When the next good spell begins, and how long until then. While one is on, how long it has left.

    The gold windows

    The day's best times, marked morning, midday and evening. In this example: 06:20–08:20, 12:20–12:40 and 17:40–19:20.

    A line marks the present. The rest of the day is the forecast, drawn dashed.

What drives the day

Every factor, up or down

Under the curve, each factor gets a line of its own: sun, moon, wind, cloud, rain, air pressure and water temperature, with an arrow for whether it lifts the day or drags it down. Pick one to see its chart.

The wind side

Where the wind piles in

A card draws the lake's outline against today's wind and names the shore where the wind edge lies. With a south-easterly, it is the north-west shore: the waves push food in there, and the fish often follow. In a strong wind it points out the sheltered shore you can still fish.

Every water makes a phone-sized picture of today: the verdict, the curve and its gold windows, and the best times, ready to post. Free, like the day's table.

The year's bite table for the south, middle or north of Sweden, for all species or just the one you're after, from perch and pike to salmon and char. Or your own water's season, day by day, with the year's best periods, which you can put in your calendar.

Most bite tables online are really solunar tables with a new label: the same moon curve for the whole country, whatever the water, whatever the weather. Swedish anglers deserve better than that.
