2003, the quiet years, and 2026

20033 July

The secure form provider

hform.com was registered at a time when SSL certificates cost real money and shared hosting rarely offered them. Putting a form on your website that didn't leak its contents in plain text was genuinely hard.

hform did one thing: it handled forms securely, so that website owners didn't have to. Small businesses got a working contact form without becoming system administrators.

The quiet years

The web caught up, then overshot

Encryption became free and universal, and the original problem dissolved. hform went quiet.

Meanwhile the simple web form turned into form platforms: accounts to create, builders in frames, branding you can't remove, and your customers' data stored on another continent. Forms are easy now. Owning your form, and your data, got hard again.
