A project by John TibellJiggskalle.seOnly jig heads.
One part of the tackle, in depth: jig heads in lead and tungsten, in every shape, weight and hook size, for those who rig their own. With guides to what each shape does in the water.

- A hook with a weight cast onto it. The soft bait is threaded on behind. The shape of the weight decides how the bait falls and how it sits on the bottom. The baits are at Jigg.se →
Six shapes, and what each one does
Pick a head and see how it comes down and how it rests. The descriptions are from the shop's guides.
Lead or tungsten?
The same weight, in two metals. From the shop's comparison.
The shop's tip: begin with lead while you learn a new water and lose heads to the bottom. When you know where the fish stand, change to tungsten for the best spots.
Shape, weight, hook
Round, ned and stand-up each have a guide of their own: what the shape does, when it suits and when it doesn't.
How to match the weight to the depth, the current and the bait, with tables and rules of thumb.
Hook sizes and types, and how to match the hook to the bait and the fish.
“Fish slowly. Then even more slowly.”
From the guide to the ned rig: small hops of ten to twenty centimetres, and rests of three to ten seconds on the bottom. The fish often take a bait that is lying still.
